TRANSITIONAL
I believe transitional design has a very broad window depending on the foundation of our clients. The barometer changes based on the design environment we grew up around. Simply put, I believe transitional means breaking some rules and using a mix of a few modern accessories and lighting. For example, for one particular transitional client, I reframed all their traditional artwork in simple black frames from the original ornate gold leaf frames. Transitional interiors may be all the same pieces recovered in a less serious upholstery, possibly eliminating some buttons, trim, or skirting. Transitional is exactly as it translates “the step between” I’ll leave the two destinations up to you.
